As a serial entrepreneur for decades, I’ve worn almost every hat imaginable: marketer, bookkeeper, social media manager, customer service rep and even janitor — sometimes all in a single day. If you are an entrepreneur, you certainly can relate. There’s never enough time, especially when it comes to marketing and social media.
These tasks are time-consuming, energy-draining and often fall outside our skill set, yet they are essential for growing a business and staying visible to potential clients. The problem is that they can eat up hours each week that a small business owner can’t spare.
If I’d had access to the AI tools we have today when I opened my first business, I could have saved hundreds or more hours each year. There are so many tools today that now take minutes to create content that used to take up entire evenings or weekends.
Today’s AI tools, such as ChatGPT, Jasper, Copy.ai and Canva’s Magic Write, can help you brainstorm, write and even repurpose content in ways that share your voice and feel natural and on brand. You can draft email campaigns or 30 days of content in less than an hour and schedule everything in advance.
These tools don’t replace your voice — they help you find it faster and express it more consistently. You can easily turn a blog post into a series of Instagram captions or a short video script. You no longer have to start from scratch.
What’s exciting is that AI is easily accessible, and you don’t need to be tech savvy to get started. If you can use Google, Facebook or voice assistants, you are already using AI. The time savings are real and give you hours back that you could be doing other things for your business. I’ve seen business owners write an entire month of social posts in under an hour. Others are using AI to get ideas or topics and boost their creativity or turn a single blog post into emails, reels and ad copy.
I am convinced that every small business owner should learn the basics of AI. Just as learning how to use computers, email or spreadsheets became essential decades ago, understanding how to use AI is becoming a must-have skill for today’s entrepreneurs.
The tools we have today are the helpers I wish I had in the early days — always ready, never tired and capable of saving you time and energy when you need it most. Don’t be afraid to jump in, because once you see what’s possible, you’ll wonder how you ever ran your business without it.
